<p>James Campbell Jailor maketh oath that on the 10 day of &#160; &#160; &#160; in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and <del>seven</del> eight John Hodgkins committed to the Jail of Alexandria County a negro man named William, the property as he then understood of the said John Hodgkins where he has remained by Virtue of an order from Jonah Thompson directing him to keep him in his custody, ever since. soon after the committment of the said william, this affiant was informed by the said Hodgkins that he had sold the said William <del>to Stephen Cantrell</del> and by <del>the said</del> Stephen Cantrell that he believes he had purchased him of the said Hodgkins</p>
