<p>Personally Appeared before me a Justice of Peace for said County John Brown of Wilkes County in the State of North Carolina, who made Oath, that his partner Abner Wilburn purchased of Henry Nicholson Negroe Chalres now in the Jail of said County, for the sum of Two Hundred &amp; Twenty Two <del>pounds</del> Dollars Current Money Which was paid down and a Bill of Sale executed by said Nicholson declaring said Charles to be a slave, and as such warrented by said Bill of Sale, that said Nicholson then had said slave put in Jail for safe keeping until he should be delivered to the Purchasers, and gave them an Order to receive him at any time. Given under my Hand this 27th Day of May 1805</p>
