<p>You are hereby commanded to summon Daniel Carroll of Duddington that all excuses and delays set aside he be and appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia in and for the County of Washington at the City of Washington on the first Monday of June next to answer the petition of Susan Joyce (on behalf of herself and her two children, Michael &amp; Louisa, also on behalf <del>R</del> Racheal her sister &amp; her son Peter, likewise Ann who is her sister &amp; her the said Ann's daughters Eliza, Charity and Polly her sisters and John, Bennett, and Frank her Brothers) for freedom, in the said court exhibited against him. Hereof fail not at your peril and have you then and there this writ.</p>
                
<p>Witness the Honble Wm Cranch Esqr Chief Judge of the sd. Court.</p>

<p>Issued the 6th day of January 1809</p>
