To the Marshal of the District of Columbia—Greeting:
We command that you take summon Stephen Howison late of Washington County, if shall be found within the County of Washington in your said District, and safely keep, so that you have bod before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, to be held for the County aforesaid, at the City of Washington, on the 3rd Monday of October next, to answer unto George Gray his petition for freedom.
Hereof fail not at your peril, and have you then and there this writ.
