The United States of America to the Marshal of the District of Columbia greeting

You are hereby commanded to summon Jonathan Davis and James Kincaid late of Washington County, that all excuses set aside they be and appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia for the County of Washington on the first Monday of June next next, to answer unto the Petition of negro Morris for his freedom filed in the said Court against them.

Hereof fail not at your peril, and have you then & there this writ.

Witness the hon. Willm Cranch chief Judge of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia the 9th day of January 1816.
