<p>The Petition of Samuel Stacy humbly represents</p>

<p>That he is a free man of color, having become legally and equitably entitled to his freedom, as he is prepared to shew.</p>

<p>That nevertheless one James Knox claims to hold him as a slave: Wherefore he prays <unclear reason="illegible">subp</unclear> against the said James Knox, and that Judgment may be rendered establishing the freedom of your petitioner: &#38; he will ever pray &#38;</p>
