To the Marshal of the District of Columbia, Greeting:</p>

<p>We command you that you <del>take</del> summon Nelson Conrad late of Washington County, if he shall be found within the County of Washington in your said District, <del>and safely keep,</del> so that <del>you</del> he be and <del>have</del> appear <del>bod</del> before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, to be held for the County aforesaid, at the City of Washington, on the fourth Monday of March next, to answer <del>unto</del> the petition of Olivia Lee and her infant son John Lee and Betsy Lee for herself and her nine children, Milly Lee, Charles Lee, William Lee, George Lee and Caroline Lee for their freedom.</p>

<p>Hereof fail not, at your peril, and have you then and there this writ.</p>

<p>Witness Wm Cranch Esquire, Chief Judge of our said Court, at the City of Washington, the 11th day of Jany Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and forty two</p>

<p>Issued the 14th day of Jany 1842.</p>
