<p>We command you that you <del>take</del> Sum: Priscilla Gantt &amp; Basil E. Gantt <del>late of Washington County if shall be found within the County of Washington in your said District and safely keep, so that</del> you have to bod appear before the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, to be held for the County aforesaid, at the City of Washington, on the 3d Monday of October next, to answer unto the petition for freedom of Hester Johnson, Martha Bronson, &amp; Randolph Bronson her child</p>

<p>Hereof fail not, at your peril, and you then and there this writ.</p>

<p>Witness W Cranch Esquire, Chief Judge of our said Court, at the City of Washington, the 17th day of May Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and forty eight</p>

<p>Issued the 5th day of July 1848.</p>
