On this 15th day of Septem 1830 personally appeared Ignatious Manning before me one the Justices of the Peace for the said County and made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that knows Emanuel the bearer hereof hereof to have been the property of Peter Dejean previous to his inter marriage with Henrietta McPherson & that he is one of the persons manumitted by the Last Will and Testament of Peter Dejean who died seven or 8 years ago in the state of Maryland and that the deceased informed Deponent a few weeks before his Death he had manumitted Emanuel among others & named Adam & Clarissa also
