<p>The Petition of Barney Montgomery humbly sheweth that he is entitled to his freedom. And that he is illegally detained and held in bondage as a slave by John Robert Bronaugh who claims him as such.</p>

<p>Wherefore he prays that subpa may be issued to said Bronaugh and that he may be compelled to appear and answer hereto, and that he may be discharged from his service and adjudged free according to law.</p>
