To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia, for Washington County.

The Petition of Amy Gray humbly represents, that your petitioner is now held in bondage and claimed as a slave by Henry Howison of the said county. That your petitioner is entitled to her freedom and she prays your Honors to grant unto her the United States writ of subpona &c &c and such other and further relief as your Honors may deem equitable and proper
