The Petition of William Green humbly sheweth— That he is entitled to his freedom & is unjustly held in bondage by a certain Elisha Jewell, who claims to hold your petitioner as a Slave.— Wherefore he prays your Honors that subpœna may issue to the said Elisha Jewell that he may be compelled to appear & answer hereunto, & that your Petitioner may be discharged from his service & adjudged free according to law.—
