In the interval of nearly two months, Lewis spent nearly a week in Cincinnati, visited the fossil beds at Big Bone Lick, Kentucky, and reached Clarksville, Indiana Territory, where he picked up Clark and several "young men from Kentucky" (see Appendix A).
